  Mentuhotep II did so much for Egypt, yet hardly anyone talks about him today. What part of his story surprised you the most?

  This was much better than I expected. I especially liked that you didn't just talk about the wars but explained the First Intermediate Period, Nubia, the temple and why he was eventually forgotten. Long documentary but it didn't feel like almost 30 minutes.

The more you render it that way, the closer we come to seeing how Kemet truly was.<br><br>There should be a golden ziggurat that tops the sanctuary of Mentuhotep II, and there was indeed one. The ziggurat looked like the Step Pyramid, but as an impressive medium sized golden ziggurat. It was a very impressive golden masterpiece to behold.<br><br>Mentuhotep II was a unifier and visionary. Sematawy was practiced ceremonially, and this continued for millennia. The Rmt of Kemet understood it as a mark of the Netjeru coming together as one and standing united.<br><br>Ta-Meri, Ta-Seti, and Ta-Netjer were involved in the Rite of Sematawy. At both the state and priesthood levels, the Kemetiu (Rmt) came together as one. This was not simply the power of persuasion, but the deliberate act of the royals and their consorts to come into accord with the will of the Neteru.<br><br>As Nesw-Biti, Mentuhotep was part of the three higher orders of the royal priesthood, serving as Head of State and King. This required the Nesw-Biti to restore, renovate, maintain, and further extend the infrastructure of Kemet, if Amen willed it.
