Holy crap, Rayman Legends Retold. I was not expecting that at all. I wonder if my theory still stands up? My interest in Rayman had been taking a bit more of a backseat but low-key I would love to talk about it!

This is a really good video! I wished this story wasn't cut because it would've made a lot of sense since without this context the villain reveal just comes out of no where

He probably Build the Facilities underwater. They Are the Same Concept as the Moody Clouds Ones Are, and he Build them underwater because in the clouds didn’t work last time

I heard that somebody said that Ubisoft confirmed that they're the same character just redesigned as a Teensie, but honestly even though I'd stuck with that, there's no way they're the same. Like the magician betrayed Rayman and admires Mr Dark dispite what he did in the glade of dreams? Yeah untill Ubisoft gives us an actual reasoning or an actual confirmation, no way these two are the same.

I've never personally liked the idea of the Magician turning out to be evil all along. It seemed like a big leap of change in the character and came out of nowhere without context. Like you point out in the video, context clues came from an early stage of the game, and even that points to the dark tennsie being an imposter posing as the Magician (the fact that Murphy changes from calling him the Magician to a Teensie and the reveal being him ripping off the star from his hat being stage liked he was deceiving us into thinking he was someone else the whole time). Maybe it's cope since I though the original Magician was a cool fun and silly character, but my head cannon is still that their separate characters overall.

Thank you for this video. I respect anyone trying to make sense of the scraps and pieces we have of Rayman lore.

I was aware that the scrapped story referred to Ales as The Magician at least once. But as you pointed out, the order of the dialogue makes all the difference. It's entirely possible he was impersonating both The Magician to gain the heroes' trust, and Mr. Dark to play into his villanous fantasy (or at least acting as if he's on Mr. Dark's level). The fact he takes off his star in a level called "The Reveal", as if to imply he's someone else, is also something to consider.

I don't know, as a kid, I disliked The Magician becoming a Teensy and betraying Rayman, but I eventually accepted it as canon and moved on. At this point, I'm impartial as to what Ubi does next, though a part of me still hopes they'll make the magicians different characters.

And for the love of god, I hope they remember Raymesis is supposed to be Bad Rayman, because that's the most unnecessarily convoluted mess they wrote into Legends.

The theory is good, but I still think they're the same character because they both perform the same magic—teleporting and sending messages through the hat—and both follow the same pattern of exchanging collectibles for others (Rayman 1 trades things for lives, and Rayman Origins trades Lums for Electroons). The Redcon appearance is practically confirmed, and I wouldn't doubt that the magician would start admiring Mr. Dark after realizing he controlled the nightmares much better than Polokus, but I don't rule out your theory. To tell the truth, I think even the developers didn't know what they wanted to do with the character, because while they treat him the same as in the first game, there are dialogues and cutscenes that seem to suggest otherwise, not to mention that they never confirmed whether or not they are the same despite the many questions from fans. I hope that in this new version they finally confirm it (sorry for my bad English).

you convinced me, they AREN'T THE SAME CHARACTER(i also saw a mix between the magician from rayman 1 and origins that feels like an ACTUAL redesing of the magician, the one in origins is DEFINITIVLY someone that tried to trick rayman and his friends, overall, amazing theory)
