In the first opening scene, training the secretaries, I thought about how working people in those days had to really hustle to survive. The typists were being drilled, with the teachers throwing tongue twisters at a breakneck pace.
I was thinking about how people in the 30s expected to have to scramble at work when along comes the girl who plans to find a rich man to take care of her.
I'm always impressed by how the movies of the black and white era were willing to tackle tough ideas and deal with them.

Decades ago (c1960 when I was a little kid) I saw this film on TV. It was long before I knew who Jean Arthur was or any of the other actors whose names and faces are now familiar to me as I watch old movies. The early scene in which the guy says it was his body with someone else's face was the only thing about the film I recalled.. It was good to view again as an adult and to see the whole story from different eyes.

Her acting is just totally natural. I said it before but she’s really good actress. He’d be hard-pressed to find someone that is as good as actress as she is and I’m looking at a lot of movies in my head from the early 50s to now maybe Doris Day she had a natural acting ability.

Love Jean Arthur. One of my favorite movies of all time is The More the Merrier.

Mr Crosby was pretty flexible and solid to take that work over.
