I still think that Perfect Dark is one of the best and most iconic FPS Games on Consoles.

Perfect Dark was such a freakin awesome sweet ass game. Still remember lugging my huge 23 inch tv outside with my N64 to the communal gazebo on my street and playing with all my friends. The 4 player split screen WITH bots meant we could play a coop deathmatch against the AI. I remember we used to set 1 of the bots to really hard so everytime someone saw the yellow bot they'd run scared.

For me, the multiplayer settings in Perfect Dark were truly revolutionary. While the story mode in GoldenEye was groundbreaking, Perfect Dark's multiplayer led to endless multiplayer sessions with my friends. The idea that you could instruct your AI allies to patrol, or cater them to a specific scenario was something my childhood brain couldn't get over. It totally blew open the idea that you could make computers act like people.

The storyline for Perfect Dark became part of my childhood. GoldenEye was also a mainstay. And Perfect Dark was just perfect.

They sure don't make games like that anymore. Maybe I'm just saying that because I was a kid growing up with these. Love this video!

Perfect Dark is a triumph of perfectionism. The game had everything. I wish I could shake hands one day with one of their developers.

Perfect Dark was such a deep game. So much to do in one FPS on the N64. Truly an amazing game. Great video too with some impressive renders and animations too.

I loved Perfect Dark when it came out but the fact that GoldenEye was such a huge hit, I'm sure the license holders involved wanted bigger a cut, and that had something to do with passing on the squeal and building a proprietary IP game.

I was genuinely blown away by this game back in 2000. It looked so good for the time and had so much content that I played it for literally years, and I still do once in a while.
And I totally agree with your closing thoughts on why it couldn't surpass Goldeneye sales-wise. Goldeneye was just a pioneer title for consoles, and even though Perfect Dark did everything better than Goldeneye IMO it just couldn't make history like its predecessor did.

I always thought Perfect Dark was better than Goldeneye, but I think I gave TImesplitters 2 the biggest portion of my soul in my teen years.

This is my favourite N64 game. I recently completed it again and it's still so much fun ! Single player campaign is a blast, the multiplayer is super fun and there is so much content and challenges to explore. Thanks for the video
