My baby is 10 weeks old and i woke I up aroumd 430 to change amd feed her... i was so exhausted and had a tired blank face but i caught her looking at my face and so I smiled and said i love you. And she gave me the biggest smile i could she her gums. It made me realize she is looking at me to see how she should feel. Everytime i wake her up now i smile and say mama loves you!

The idea that babies remember how we make them feel, not whether every routine was perfect, is such a gentle reminder for those exhausted 2 a.m. moments. The tiny pauses of connection really do matter.

The part about greeting your baby with a smile is so real! Even on those exhausting nights when I’m running on zero sleep, seeing my baby mirror my smile completely melts my heart and resets my mood. Such validating and heartwarming info!

When I was a new mom I didn't know any of this. I knew I loved my kids. I responded everytime they cried. Held them when they wanted. Now they are all super close to mom my oldest is 16.

My newborn just 2 days old was latched on but stopped suckling. I obviously thought she isn’t understanding a word of what I am saying but I was talking to her then I told her “do as mumma does” and showed her a suckling moment then I kept repeating it a couple of times and she exactly mirrored my action. I was so surprised, the nurse was a witness to this otherwise I swear I wouldn’t believe it myself. Then on we call her “monkey see, monkey do”

When I was a new mom I was not okay and lacked support, I was always angry and crying. Today, my 12 yo is smart and kind but struggles with anxiety and depression. I now have a 5 month old too and my main goal is to protect her nervous system and play/talk with her every day. I'm glad I can do this for my youngest, I only wish I could have given my oldest this same sense of comfort as a baby. Maybe she wouldn't struggle as much if I had.

Good thing I wake in the morning with the biggest grin on my face. My daughter wakes up like this almost every morning now as a toddler and I believe its because of this
