This series, is one of the best in this genre.  Up there with pride and prejudice. The last  love scenes are  precious

I have the DVD. I let a friend borrow it. She kept it for 6 months. I told her to keep it and I bought myself the DVD again. I don't loan it out anymore.😂

I love  Richard Armitage's aura so much, restrained, unwavering, profound, and deeply passionate. His voice resonates like a double bass. His Thornton is unmatched in my heart.

Such a beautiful love story. Mr. Thornton got my vote. Each woman needs the passion he has. Love him.

Pity about the cut-out scenes. It disrupts the storyline and makes it feel disjointed.

It;s nice they put these wonderful highlights on here...but I wonder why they just didn't upload the whole complete series, without editing so much out?

I love this movie, but the discussion about the wallpaper irritates me so much. The producers missed the mark with the wallpaper.  In the book, when  Margaret and her father are looking for a house, the owner refuses to change the wallpaper. John overhears this and talks the owner into the changing it.  When they move into the house they were surprised to find new wallpaper, but they didn't know that John was involved.  They (and the reader) had just met John, so this was a clue to the reader about his character. I don't know why they even put that into the move if they weren't going to explore the importance of the wallpaper. They missed a good character moment.

I've loved this BBC series ever since it first came out. That unforgettable scene where Thornton walks through his mill, with the gorgeous score playing and cotton dust filling the air, will stay with me forever.

Next to Pride and Prejudice, North and South is my all-time favorite period drama adaptation. Unfortunately, several scenes were cut out here, which makes the story lose its development. Good thing I have the uncut episodes on DVD

That hat is a star in its own right, it goes with just about everything Margaret wears!
