Shao Jun deserves a mainline game. I'd rather see that than remakes.

Altair had no fancy gadgets and very little field support. Never got hit once. And mastered wielding the apple of Eden, expanded the brotherhood to new heights.

In defence of Edward’s death, he was ambushed at night in his family home so he’s already at a disadvantage because he’s needing to wake up and get right into the fight. We visit the Kenway mansion in Syndicate and it’s not exactly expansive areas like the ship decks or fort grounds Edward would go into combat on in Black Flag. Then there’s his wife, daughter and son he’d be distracted by because he’d be concerned for their safety, three different rooms in the house with family members potentially under threat and he’s only in one of them. The deck was intentionally stacked against him by an enemy he thought was an ally, Reginald Birch.

I’d say Altair or Connor, let’s not forget Altair had a synch bar not a health bar so in the events of assassins creed 1 he never took any damage, let that sink in…

I always divided the Assassins into two distinct categories, Champions and Operatives. Champions are Assassins who you send into a Templar dominated area and have them absolutely wreck the Templars. Operatives are used to maintain Assassin influence and prevent Templars from getting the upper hand in regions. Champions include Connor, Edward, Adewale, Jacob, and Bayek. Operatives include Altair, Arno, Evie, Aya, and Basim. Ezio seems to be the only one so far who fits into both.

Isn't Desmond like, a smoothe of Altair, Ezio, and Connor's skills because of the bleeding effect? If im not mistaken, he should be number one. As agile as ezio, skilled as Altair, and ruthless as Connor.

I think you rank Edward Kenway pretty low considering his reputation. Sure the games paint him as pretty impetuous in his youth, but by the end of Black Flag, he has mastered the art of blending into any society and disappearing socially. Don't forget, he killed a Master Assassin before even being trained in combat beyond that necessary of a merchant marine sailor. He then dons the robes and passes as a Master assassin and ally of the Templar for a short time. Don't forget 95% of the game he is just a young pirate fighting to survive, there are only a handful of missions showcasing his work as an assassin of the order before discovering his daughter, returning to England, and retiring from being an assassin to be an English Aristocrat. The Templars feared him so much in retirement that they sent 5 Templar Masters to retrieve his Pieces of Eden, accidently ambushing him in the process. In his short life, he quickly and easily transforms himself from one persona to another multiple times fully embracing that version of himself each time. To be a good assassin even in real life, that is what is necessary. To play a part so convincingly that no one even questions that you don't belong.

I would give a big shout-out and an honorable mention to Shay Cormack. While technically not an assassin, he still is an assassin of assassins. Being a good assassin is hard enough as it is, so it's even more impressive that you can excel in effectively hunting the hunters, and he basically destroyed the colonial brotherhood. Also, as far as we know, he was never defeated or killed by the assassins after the events of Rogue.
