  As a former Navy Quartermaster, what you are experiencing is called “Set and Drift”, caused by combination of ocean currents and steerage errors. &nbsp;Your auto pilot is doing its best to maintain course, but due to the sea state and prevailing winds, you are being pushed off course. &nbsp;You can calculate this by using a paper chart, plot your GPS position, use dead reckoning (course, speed and time) to see where you should be with no S&amp;D, plot your next GPS position and the difference between the two points is your Set and Drift. Set being speed of the current(biggest effect on your vessel) Drift being the direction you are being pushed. &nbsp;Using this information you can adjust your track to make your intended course true over ground.<br><br>Oh, and I’m a Golden Shellback (Crossed Equator and International Date Line at the same time). All Hail King Neptune!!

  Nathan, Lindsey, you two are amazing! &nbsp;Not only have you undertaken the Herculean task of crossing the Pacific Ocean, the wrong way, in Cyclone/ Hurricane season, you somehow manage to maintain such a positive, loving attitude toward each other! You’re together literally 24/7 for like the last TWO YEARS, and yet you smile, joke with each other, and even lament the logistical challenge of sleeping in bed together during these long passages. &nbsp;It’s heartwarming, and a testament to your incredible relationship. &nbsp;Kudos to you both. &nbsp;You’re an inspiration to us all.<br>Your friend, Anthony<br>PS - congrats on becoming ‘Scallywags’!!

  Hi Lindsey and Nathan. This is Murray from Lethbridge Alberta Canada. I am a 75 year-old pensioner. You guys are such a great couple. It just warms my heart. You are living the life that I always wanted, but never got. To that end your films, editing ,content, and camera work our second and none. I have so much enjoyment watching and seeing all the world that I wanted to see that I’ve never seen before. There’s no way you could improve on your films that I can see. You’ve done such a miraculous job. As you continue on your journey, I sometimes feel a little bit scared because I don’t want you to end. I keep thinking oh no, I hope there’s no dead time once you hit the US. I want you to head right back out to sea. I don’t want your films to end. I look so forward to them. They just don’t come often enough and long enough for me. I could watch them all day and all night and speaking of night. I love seeing the stars and the moon they’re nice little shots that are beautiful and and are inserted into the film at just a nice time. You guys are the best team that I have ever seen and I cheer you on with all my love.

  Little tip for the bananas Linsey. You can chop them up and freeze the pieces on a parchment lined flat tray and once frozen put them in freezer bags for use in milkshakes/smoothies or thaw out what you need for use in batters for muffins or banana nut bread and possibly pancakes 😊

  Lindsey, I share your healthy fear and I don’t think I’m at any risk of getting eaten by an oceanic white tip unless the boat sinks out from underneath me. Open water ocean is gorgeous, but it’s gorgeous from the deck of a boat.😱
