Mike, wearing a Pantera T-shirt, talking about Rev, and playing A7X on his signature drums, is automatically majestic.

as legend as portnoy is, he was not afraid to say that he was basically just following through what jimmy had laid out for the record, wasn't trying to take out the spotlight from jimmy, good guy mike.

The fact the rest of the band made sure it was one of his favorite drummers to take up his kit and made multiple songs/lyrics on this album to tribute him shows how real their friendship was. Theyre not just a band theyre a bunch of friends that like to play music together

The Rev was one of my MAJOR drumming influences. He passed away on my birthday. December 28. Was the worst birthday of my life. Rest in Peace Rev. You are badly missed!

I like to think The Rev would've been honored to have Mike effing Portnoy do whatever he wanted on the album. The fact Portnoy respected what The Rev envisioned always left me in awe and gave me so much more respect for him as a person as well as a drummer.

Portnoy was given an impossible task, technically and emotionally, and he accomplished it in a manner that not only adhered to the rev’s style but surpassed any expectation. Truly a perfect album

Portnoy should do a breakdown about the song "Save Me" from the same album, it's a masterpiece.

This was the first Avenged Sevenfold song I learned on drums. RIP The Rev. Mike Portnoy you inspired me to play more!
