One cool thing I found out after years playing this game is that, after defeating del lago and backtracking to the dogs, you can trigger the dogs and run for the boat. The dogs will stay on the bridge, and they will hit you if you get too close. But tou will be able to kill them with the harpoons.

One of the most helpful tips i learned recently is that you can easily kill regenerators with just a knife and one shotgun shell. You shoot their leg off and just start slashing their backs, and they don't get back up since each knife slash staggers them
