Private-label wines are getting better. With the ongoing crisis, many winemakers are directing some of their strongest lots into distributor channels to stay afloat. For consumers, that’s good news — Kirkland is a clear example

Pauillac is my go to wine on any day for its elegant taste, never fails to impress with its taste that lingers, well balanced, good finish. Am just surprised you concurred there assigning 92 pts. Borollo, the specialty Italian wine as I’ve come to know, it was a bit unfathomable on the first try initially, felt a heavy, rich taste with the bottle in room temperature, then kept in fridge/cooler, tried the next day, absolutely ravishing taste, the finish is delicate and superb, so I suspect sticking it a bottle in your cellar helps it getting better and better and tastes wonderful when chilled a bit. Still discovering many wine brands, it’s amazing to find such quality wines, Kirkland does it good 👍 thanks Dr for an interesting review

Kirkland Signature Pauillac (2023)
The overall winner. Features classic Bordeaux notes of purple/black cherry, tobacco, and cassis. Horkey was impressed by its structure and nuance, noting it outperforms many California Cabernets at this price. $19.99. 92 pts.

Kirkland Signature Gigondas (2023)
A "crowd-pleaser" with stewed cherry, floral, and peppery notes. While it lacks the richness of a top-tier Gigondas (drinking more like a high-quality Côtes du Rhône Villages), it is a fantastic value for house parties and burgers. $14.99. 89 pts.

Kirkland Signature Barolo (2021)
A decent red wine with cranberry and earthy tones, but Horkey found it less concentrated and "chiseled" than expected for a Barolo. He describes it as more similar to a Langhe Nebbiolo. $24.99. 87 pts.

I have all three bottles and have tried the Gigondas. Your description is spot on.

Kirkland’s old world wines are great value for money. I have these three and six others. They are great everyday drinkers while my better bottles age.

The Pauillac is definitely a winner. I'm headed to Costco tomorrow to pick up some more if they're still available.

Thanks Matthew, by chance last night we had the 2023 Kirkland Pauillac and loved it. I decanted it for a few hours and ran the whole bottle through an Ullo Wine Purifier (to remove sulfates). The Pauillac was smoother than I thought it would be and had no harshness to it. We had it with Kirkland Rack of Lamb that I made..
