Petal Gahlot Calls Out Pakistan's Hypocrisy: "Regime of the Army, by the Army, & for the Army" |N18G

Exercising India's right of reply at the United Nations General Assembly, First Secretary Petal Gahlot strongly rebutted allegations made by the representative of Pakistan, pointing out the hypocrisy in its statements on democracy, terrorism, and minority rights. Highlighting that the address came shortly after the twenty-fifth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Gahlot recalled that mastermind Osama bin Laden was discovered living beside the premier academy of the Pakistani military. She characterized the administration in Islamabad as a 'Form 47 government' and asserted: "And that, Mr. President, is happening because this is a regime of the army, by the army, and for the army. Their puppets may come and go, but let us have no illusion who calls the shots." Pointing to internal repression and the fortification of Pakistan's capital against its citizens, she noted that the real governance of the country was reflected in constitutional immunities granted to military rulers. Addressing cross-border aggression, Gahlot reiterated that the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir remains an integral and inalienable part of India, calling attention instead to human rights violations, killings, and denial of basic freedoms in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including Rawalkot. Emphasizing India's resolve, she reminded the Assembly that actions taken in the previous year showed that terrorists would have nowhere to hide, warning that continued cross-border attacks would bring consequences and undermine goodwill.
