A lake is actually a good place for a vampire, if it's deep enough the sun doesn't reach the bottom. They don't need to breathe, so they can just hang out down there, chilling with the fishes.

Lake vampires could be a name for all sorts of potentially nocturnal bloodsucking creatures that live in water. Large leeches or something.
