Play War Thunder now with my links, and get a massive, free bonus pack including vehicles, boosters and more on PC and consoles: https://wtplay.link/thefrosty1 | Mobile: https://wtm.game/thefrosty1
#ad #WarThunder

____ Corrections/Clarifications ____
0:03:56 - Bloomfield, aka Brooklyn, is a Corporal in this mission, which is the lowest NCO rank. Regardless, the binoculars are still seen on him in the North Africa and Sicily levels where he is a private and not acting as a forward observer.
0:32:00 - The MAS 36 does actually eject casings but two of them come out before the bolt is even pulled back which is clearly erroneous. Other rifles like the Springfield M1903A4 and Fucile Mod. 38 appear to not eject any casings.
0:38:34 - I made a small editing mistake here by leaving the voiceover volume too quite. For those who cannot hear, the point was about how the ZF41 scope reticle on the Kar98k has an incorrect design.

____ Additional Points ____
0:38:21 - The safety catch of the Kar98k is in the activated position yet it still somehow fires. It also has a late war barrel band which is anachronistic for 1942
1:16:25 - The clip of the Fucile Mod. 38 was designed to be inserted into the magazine along with the cartridges and then fall out of the bottom through a designated hole once all six rounds are chambered. In game the clip detaches from the rounds and falls away before they enter the magazine.
1:19:08 - The Navy Petty Officer we Liaison with in this level is portrayed incorrectly. He should not have the Naval Engineer patch. His helmet also wouldn't have the navy gray stripe and black stencil like what you'd see from Neptune. Instead, his helmet would just be OD green with nothing on it, or he would hand paint "USN" in white letters and an anchor on it to show he's not Army once on land. In addition, his weapon should be an M1 Carbine or Springfield 03 instead of an M1 Garand.
1:31:27 - All StG 44 assault rifles in game are missing the front sight hood.

This video was a collaborative effort with critical research sourced from our team including Davidson, K-Nyne, Michael Akkerman, Hempy, and FeReise along with several other sources. Massive thanks to everyone involved and to you for watching!

I'll just say this:

Regardless of what one may think of this game, this one was basically THE cornerstone game for me. It simultaneously kickstarted my interest in both gaming AND history. I will always adore this game to bits.

Call of Duty 2 Big Red One is the first WW2 game that literally told me:
"There are other nations in axis powers God dang it!"

What I'll always praise this game for is the fact you ACTUALLY get promoted throughout the campaign.

the "no ranks on uniforms" thing is mostly a quirk of the fact that all of the name / rank combinations on the UI are randomly generated unless the NPC is part of a scripted event.

I liked Big Red One, it is one of the few WWII shooters that included the Vichy French and Italians.

Accurate? Hell no. But this game was operating on maximum vibes. The voice acting and the fact that you stuck with a squad and had a regular back and forth between them really created an incredible experience of advancing through the different stages of war. This remains my favorite Call of Duty campaign, and arguably my favorite FPS. Out of all the games in the franchise, this game deserves to be remade by a loving team who want to enhance the experience by improving the fidelity and accuracy.

the duality of man
I watch videos correcting errors in game and movie and take a lot of enjoyement out of it because I like accuracy
then I go to my workbench to make completly historically innacurate models because it's more fun that way
