  Memories are a funny thing. I can't remember what I ate for lunch two days ago but I can remember being seven years old watching this game with my Dad in the living room. It was the first year in my life I followed or knew what the NFL was. Thanks for the flashback.

  Played the vikes twice in 1977. 32-14. 35-14. Two cans whoop Ass in less then a year

  I believe this game was expendable for the Vikings. &nbsp; They had a 1 game lead on Chicago, &nbsp;and the Bears were expected to win out. &nbsp;That would mean Minnesota would need to beat Detroit the following week, regardless of the outcome of this game. &nbsp;This allowed Coach Grant to see what his rookie QB, Tommy Kramer, could do. &nbsp;Kramer lead the Vikings to 3 TD&apos;s in the 4th quarter the week before to win 28-27. &nbsp;This also gave banged up veteran QB Bob Lee a chance to heal up. &nbsp;After Kramer struggled here, Lee came back with a great game against Detroit to get the Vikings another division title.

  Another gem of the past. Vintage Raiders and Vikings. Eternal hats off to the legacy of Vin Scully in this one also. His wit and knowledge of the game is incredible. Of course, he gets most of his laurels from his coverage of the Dodgers, but as shown in this game, he was as good as any of the NFL play-by-play announcers of his day. I&apos;m not sure what wity quotes of his I liked best from him in this game as there are so many. <br>&quot;Oakland is gonna push them into the Bay&quot;; after Oakland was up 3 touchdowns in the first quarter. <br>&quot;And Guy sends one to the airport&quot;; after a Ray Guy punt. &nbsp;<br>&quot;We have met the enemy and they are us&quot;; on how poor Minnesota&apos;s play was.

  Coming off the bench and leading the Vikings to a spectacular win the week before.,Kramer was finally given the starting role for this game. Instead of solidifying his opportunity , he stunk &nbsp;it up and was promptly benched the following week. His career pretty much &nbsp;took the same path. Occasional flashes of brilliance, but mostly inconsistent at best.
