WhatsApp is the real hero of the telecom user base. It connected the low income world when big companies were scamming them.

Well the winner are founders that sold Whatsapp for billions unlike the founders of Groupon who turned down 5 billions from Google.

While Meta doesn't charge users to pay for WhatsApp, its false to says that they dont monetize their large userbase. They do so by using it as leverage to convince businesses to pay for communicating with them via WhatsApp.

Whatsapp is the number one texting app in my country… no way people would go back to messages since they cost flatrate.

It sucks because i genuinely prefer whatsapp over other apps like Snapchat

I don't understand why they don't just make a 'pro' customer version next to the current customer version and the business version. Like m.a.n.y people, including myself, would like to be able to install whatsapp on multiple phones using only 1 phone number (hence the slew of whatsweb apps). Put this and other features in a pro version and people will pay for it

In most European countries, communication between two iPhone users occurs on WhatsApp.

I think the real competitors of Whatsapp is not only Apple (with it's iMessage), but also Telegram to an extend. And hence we could notice that recently Whatsapp has been fastly rolling out updates, which once existed for Telegram only.

I strongly disagree with iMessage being competition to WhatsApp. WhatsApp is extremely popular and if fails or Meta screws it up somehow.... people will flock to Telegram, Viber, Signal or some other app. iMessage is extremely unpopular outside mainly the US. Everyone I know who uses an iPhone doesn't iMessage, they all WhatsApp.

Comparing iMessage to WhatsApp is like comparing Windows popularity to Mac OS

In Brazil every single bussiness operates through WhatsApp, big, small, corporations. It's actually a great plan
