This movie haunted my dreams when I first watched it on a sleepover all those years ago. It was my first proper horror and it really fucked me up. The idea that she’s wherever you aren’t looking made me deathly afraid of being alone for a solid 6 months

He reunited her with her family, so she just returned the favor...

I always took the ending as the woman in black is so vengeful and hate filled there is no way to put her to rest. Nothing you can do will end her desire for revenge.

Arthur did all he could and it still wasn’t enough. She still killed Joseph but because Arthur sacrificed himself in an attempt to save his son, it protected Joseph from being taken by the woman in black. In the afterlife, Arthur and his son are greeted by the wife to enter heaven together lovingly and the final shot rests on a hate filled and bitter woman in black, watching resentfully at Arthur moving on to peace with his family, knowing her hatred will prevent her from ever experiencing the same

one of the last old-school films made. Really scary and pretty sad as well. Really underappreciated also IMO !
