  Great that Shinjuku is also taking measures against the littering! Although, the trash robots is a cute idea but not sure if people who already think littering is justified will care.

  Might be an unpopular opinion, but Airbnbs should be cracked down on/regulated everywhere. Too many that take properties off the market because they make more money from putting them up on Airbnb than renting them long term to local residents. Living in a city with massive housing shortages that has driven rent prices up to ludicrous levels while seeing thousands of properties up on Airbnb is a joke. Someone has a spare room they want to utilise fine, someone going away for some months fine. People deliberately buying places so they rent them out on Airbnb does not sit well with me.

  Great video! I always travel solo and my Airbnb is basically just a room in the house of a Japan family, love it so much, bcs i am immersed with the local Japan family culture. Although it’s sucky on the tax part, but it is what is haha, can’t wait to be back next year in January for Tokyo Auto Salon.

  Thanks for the new info.  I am always in AirBnBs.   I will double check my place before I go back in November.  I'll be in Shinjuku for 2 weeks, I am really going to look for those robots!

  the restrictions on air bnb’s are pretty massive. It’s very likely most tokyo wards will have similar restrictions in the near future, probably cuts the the total operation in at least half, it looks like it will be down to quite a bit less than half in some cases. So there’s going to be an obvious jump in price. Of course this will probably turn people to hotels, which will also go up in price, but this kind of fits with what japan seems to want to do, fewer foreigners with the ones that do come spending more money
