I worked in Shanghai for a year, pre-Covid. Some of my thoughts:

- Shanghai is a very cosmopolitan city, and in many ways it is quite like Singapore (I'll probably describe it more like the New York City of China). It really is a melting pot of cultures from all over China and elsewhere, so there's quite a lot going on. It can be a bit overwhelming for beginners.

- As a result, Shanghai actually has quite a few good restaurants that don't serve Chinese food. I've had quite decent Japanese, Western and even Singaporean food in Shanghai during my time there.

- Sheng jian bao in Shanghai is like our chicken rice here. You can find it everywhere, and like chicken rice, there are good ones and there are not so good ones. So just have to manage your expectations accordingly.

- During the summer months, you will see many places selling xiao long xia (tiny lobster) as they are in season. If you're into seafood that you can sorta eat like a snack (still must peel shell though), it's worth checking out if you're there during that period. They're usually served with seasoning such as mala or pepper, but there are many different variations also.

- One of the areas I liked when I was there that you guys didn't feature was Xintiandi, which is like their equivalent of our Clarke Quay, and is known for their vibrant nightlife. There are lots of cool pubs and bars which makes it come alive at night, but many of the buildings in the area also feature very nice old-school architecture from the 19th century/early 20th century. It gives the place a completely different vibe from the rest of the city.

Really like the travel logs!! Keep up the good work. Good on the fact that they do not say good things only and also bad things.

the montage are insane would really like to see a bts of the crew working on it and its so nice to see Ryan being so happy and enjoying himself. Now when i scroll tiktok it seems most people are travelling to Chongqing, Chengdu, Harbin side more than Shanghai.
