This movie is somewhat inspired by the literary classic "One Hundred Years of Solitude" written by Gabriel García Márquez about a Family that establishes a town in the east of Colombia in the early colonial period. In the book there are fantastical, outlandish elements that are not explained. That's what's called "Magical Realism" there are many latin american books that have these elements.

I’m Colombian and this is the Disney movie I’ve waited my whole life to see. The music may not be as memorable as other Disney movies and there may not be a traditional villain, but the family story resonated with me in so many ways I can’t even begin to tell you how much joy this brought me. I love this movie.

I agree with their conversation about the colorism in this film. I feel like in animation it's a bit easier to convey different skin tones and color, while in live-action it may not always be as easy or perhaps Hollywood producers just don't consider the colorism when casting sometimes. That's why I'm kind of glad the controversy with In The Hights happened so that more people in and out the industry can be aware of it.

Hi Guys ! I saw the movie and it was amazing ! I agree with Martin ,even though I’m a white Colombian , I feel so proud that ENCANTO showed part of our ethnic diversity specially the Afro Colombians who have enriched our culture immensely with music , dance , sports , arts , food , etc . The sound track of this movie is a must listen , it has some beautiful orchestra melodies from other regions of the country and they appeared at the end of the film in the credits part . 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
