The course went through a scarcely populated area known as Mezihrady (Between the Castles) and mainly through a terrain safely distant from the reach of the frequent floods of the Vltava River. In contrast to the usual straight lines of the street design in New Town, this street retained the meandering course and width of the original route. The first name of the road was Kovářská (the street of smiths) and later Flašnéřská (the street of tinsmiths), after the predominant profession of its residents. The current name Spálená (the burnt road) was given after the great fire of 1506, which turned to ashes in more than twenty buildings, although, as a witness had it, even the Jews extinguished the fire, praised by the burghers. The executioner exercised one of his arts, i.e., he exorcised the fire(a quotation from a medieval chronicle). https://goo.gl/maps/RCfEHVZx3u2cHDog9 Vegetable Market Square (Ovocný trh) is a small elongated square in the area between Celetná and Rytířská streets. The marketplace existed in these places as early as the 13th century. The fruit trade prevailed there until the beginning of the 20th century. The current name has been valid since 1870. There are several important Prague buildings on the Fruit Market - the Estates Theater, Karolinum, the Kolowrat Palace, the House of the Black Madonna, and the Myslbek Palace's back wing. Today, the Fruit Market is part of the Old Town pedestrian zone. https://goo.gl/maps/b4bfNi5aukbLKARU9 Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí) This square is the commercial and administrative centre of the city and the site of important social and historical events. You'll find cinemas, theatres, banks, hotels, restaurants, dozens of small and large shops, and administrative centres here. The Square was created when Charles IV founded the New Town in 1348. Today, it is dominated by the National Museum (1885 – 1891) and Josef Václav Myslbek's statue of the national patron, St Wenceslas, from 1912. https://goo.gl/maps/R3o7pbj6FeG7QVok6 My second channel: @driverelaxradio Instagram: Instagram: perceptionphilosophy Recorded in 4k Perception Philosophy © 2024 November 22th, 2024 Czech Republic
