  My son got married in August. &nbsp;His fiancée wanted a fairly fancy wedding, but I didn’t want to buy an ultra fancy mother of the groom outfit that I would never wear again. &nbsp;In talking to my daughter in law’s mother she felt the same way. &nbsp;So the two of us bought simple tea length navy blue dresses that could be easily accessorized for the wedding. &nbsp;We both bought lovely shawls to go with the dresses and simple navy dress pumps. &nbsp;When the bride saw what we moms had decided to wear she decided to simplify her dress and those of the bridesmaids. &nbsp;The result was simple but elegant, and we all have lovely dresses that we can wear again for other occasions. &nbsp;People who attended the wedding and the luncheon commented on how classy we ladies all looked. &nbsp;The bridal planner took photos of us to show future brides that bridal, bridesmaid and mother clothes could easily worn again with different accessories. &nbsp;As a professional musician I made sure that I could comfortably play my cello in this dress so I can wear it to perform in. &nbsp;Buying this dress for the wedding turned out to be a very positive experience because it wasn’t a “one and done” purchase, and I have already worn it since then dressed down.

  Luckily, most of the clothes I have regretted buying have come from a thrift shop that supports a food pantry. &nbsp;So if I only wear them once, hey at least the bit of money I spent helped feed a family! &nbsp; <br><br>Also, I spent $10 on a lovely dark blue and lace mother of the bride dress for my son&apos;s wedding. &nbsp;The floor length gown was beautiful. &nbsp;When I donated it back to the thrift shop, another woman bought it for her own son&apos;s wedding! &nbsp;How cool is that?!?

  My hundreds of Poshmark and eBay listings are testimony to the fact that I tend to buy for the life I wish I had and for the weight I keep meaning to get back down to. 😭

  I donated a dozen pieces to a thrift shop this past week. Every single one was something I had bought because it was on sale, and nothing was a WOW. Since watching your channel, I&apos;m far more selective. Thank you!

  I have a confession: I&apos;m not French Chic and probably never will be, but your advice is universal, and it helps no matter what one&apos;s style is. And I second the beautiful, but comfortable, shoes. I&apos;ve regretted every pair that I bought because they only pinched &quot;a bit.&quot; It&apos;s never worth the blisters.

  My rule about sale prices is: would I buy it at full price? &nbsp;If yes then I buy it but if it&apos;s a no then it&apos;s not a sale price for me.
