  I think every American should watch this clip from the Newsroom, and then watch it again every few weeks or months..... and then again..... and again..... Until we, as a country, start to come to our senses again. This is such an incredibly powerful clip and Jeff Daniels delivers it with a flawless performance. Bravo!

  Jeff Daniels&apos; character gave every warning, gave every opportunity for the professor/interviewer to back off; if you know how to read people, you can see/recognize the coming moment of &quot;economy-size verbal whoop ass&quot;. <br>Thing is, at the time that the clip was made, every bit of the statistics given was right on the money (except for some minor embellishment); sadly, not much has changed for the better in America. Truth be told, some of those statistics have only gotten worse.<br>The one thing said that there is no arguing: America is NOT the greatest country in the world any more, and for veterans such as myself that have fought, sweated, bled and sacrificed for this country, it has only become more of an embarrassment.

  I joined the Air Force 8 years, father Army 22 years, older brother Army 8 years, younger &nbsp;brother Navy 8 years. America is NOT the greatest country, never-ending racism by EVERYONE, poverty, lack of government support, generation of cancel culture, masculine women, constant war, no middle class (only poor &amp; rich), healthcare, food, utilities, mortgage/rent unaffordable. GET YOUR PASSPORT. We used to be the best country. The vast majority of people now realize America will NEVER be the same again. Do you know the names of 4 of your neighbors.

  That video is from a tv show. &nbsp;He said America has more prisoners per capita ( per 1000 )than any other country. The truth is America has more people in prison more than any country in the world period.

  Guys, I know that this is a very late comment, but nevertheless:<br>You say that other countries have their own problems too and that is very correct.<br>Yet as someone who had lived in the USA for three years, I see three key differences which in my opinion leaves less hope for America.<br>1. In the rest of the free world the educational system and the entire culture is built in such a way that people learn about other countries, places, peoples, cultures, systems. We are constantly and acutely aware of what happens in other parts of the word. In the USA that&apos;s not the case. While I bow my head to your openness and willing to look at things from other perspectives, you must admit that you&apos;re part of a small minority. Most Americans cannot name the capital city or the president/king/prime minister of 5 other countries. And that cannot be said of the population of any other developed country.<br>2. The guy in the movie mentioned the belittling of intelligence. That was scary for me during my time in America. As a European, I can tell you that there are a few things that all totalitarian systems had in common, and one of them is the demonizing, belittling of intellectuals, of learned people and learning in general. <br>3. We are not only aware of our problems, and not only we talk about them openly, we welcome criticism and advice both from inside and outside. The USA is the only country as far as I know, in which if a foreigner dares to even mention any problem, the locals take offense, they see red and they start yelling: If you don&apos;t like it, go home!<br>So in a nutshell, if America wants to become truly great, you need to do three things: keep an eye open for the rest of the world assuming that the things that they do differently are not necessarily bad, make learning and knowledge a positive thing whilst making proud stupidity shameful, and last but not least, realize that people who happen to mention problems are most likely trying to help and not insult the country.

  My grandfather used to say &quot;Keep poking a bear don&apos;t be surprised when it &nbsp;turns around a rips you a new a*se-hole&quot; so why do people act surprised as he unloads. The best line ever &quot;The first step in solving any problem is recognizing there is one&quot; The writers of the Newsroom were geniuses the actors weren&apos;t bad either.

  Other countries have problems, of course we do. SO WE DON&apos;T BOAST ABOUT BEING THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. And we&apos;re not brainwashed into believing it as children.
