Thanks for posting these Heiser discourses. It's just a crying shame that today's culture does not have the patience to digest a WELL DEVELOPED discourse like what Heiser always does. Today's culture is only able to process "quick opinion quips" and those quips/opinions are regarded as fact - with no backing, no development. It's just really sad. We need to understand that EVERYTHING is nuanced and, if you're going take a stand on a particular position, please be prepared to develop your conclusions .... do the research, understand the nuances and dive deep .... are you just going to "give and opinion" or are you going to step up and "do the work" to give a "developed answer"?
It's so nice that Michael always gave a well developed answer. We need way more of that approach.

This is mainstream Biblical theology. The disdain of corporeal existence is heretical, expressed in gnosticism and docetism. The Bible clearly depicted Adonai/Jesus as having a body, which could eat and be touched, when He visited us here on Earth.

I haven’t listened all the way thru yet so I don’t know if he offers these verses but I’ve been thinking about these myself.

“For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22‬:‭30‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And those who are wise shall SHINE like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the STARS forever and ever.”
‭‭Daniel‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

i suppose this makes sense of 'all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of god (whether this meaning Adam or the heavenly Adam).

I went to heaven in 1987. I was in a body but not a body of flesh and bone. My spirit and body were the same thing.
I did not contain my spirit I was my spirit in the form of my spirit. It was a body but not like this body.
There were others there. We were all following a figure in a white robe, but not white like here on earth. It was not the color white it was the essence of white. We were walking up a slight incline following THE LIGHT. The light was coming from the face of Jesus, the source of the light. Nothing mattered except that unearthly light. The grass we walked through did not bend and there was absolutely no effort put forth to go up the small hill.
There are no words to describe it. But, it was more real than anything on this earth. I think it was more real because everything there is true. God is not a man that he should lie. When everything is truth, everything changes.

So is there any biblical basis for shape-shifting? And it also sounds like we don't lose our humanity in heaven? We receive enhanced, glorified bodies with fully redeemed but still human souls intact? Very interesting lecture, thank you.
