  I must have been one of these people in a past lifetime, because I could watch their videos all day long. My heart feels such yearning for these snowy, remote Russian lands, even when life is so hard. It feels like my home. I can&apos;t explain the feeling.

  I’m truly amazed watching families living in the Arctic, surrounded by snow and enduring such harsh conditions, yet still showing one another so much respect, understanding and connection.<br><br>Living in tents with limited resources, they work hard together to meet their family’s needs. There is no electricity, hot running water, showers, taps, flushing toilets, heaters, televisions or iPads to distract them or separate family members from one another. Yet despite having so little materially, they appear calm, content and happy.<br><br>Instead, they communicate. They talk, listen, play, laugh, work and learn together. Parents and children are physically and emotionally present with one another. They share responsibilities and rely on each other. Their connection seems to be at the heart of family life.<br><br>It makes me reflect on our modern Western lifestyles. We have access to almost everything we need at the press of a button, yet sometimes we seem to have less time for the people sitting right beside us. Phones, tablets, television and the internet can easily create distance within our own homes.<br><br>Perhaps what our families need most isn’t always more technology, more convenience or more things. Perhaps we need more time together—cooking meals as a family, sitting around the table and eating together, talking, playing, teaching, learning and working alongside one another.<br><br>Because children do not simply need things; they need our attention, guidance and presence. Teenagers need to feel trusted, valued and connected. Every family needs time without screens or distractions—moments to listen, share, laugh, help and grow together. These ordinary moments are often the ones that become our most lasting memories.<br><br>In the end, a rich family life is not measured by how much we own, but by how deeply we belong to one another. Contentment is found when we put down our devices, look into each other’s eyes and make time to be truly present. We may have fewer material comforts, but with love, respect, work and togetherness, we have what matters most: each other ❤
