  King Charles is the King of England, and the King of Canada, and the King of Australia, and the King of New Zealand, etc.  They're all separate positions that are held by the same person.  Like how a person could be a CEO for different companies at the same time.

  Canadian independence is a weird one to pin down compared to other former territories.<br>It gained autonomy in 1931 which required them to still partake in Britain&apos;s wars (WW2, Vietnam, etc) but Britain couldn&apos;t get involved in their politics.<br>Newfoundland had gave up its autonomy in 1934 due to poor financial planning and the need for subsidies from Britain to pay it off their debt, it eventually joined Canada in 1949.<br>But the Constitution of Canada wasn&apos;t drafted till 1982 which gave them full independence which is where they stand today.

  Technically true. The head of state is still King Charles and it was Elizabeth II until she passed away.
