  I don't know if anyone has said this, but a trait I really like about Lucas and Dawn's outfits is the scarves. When you're playing the game and the characters are shrunk down into the sort of chibi style, the scarf trails behind them when you run or bike, and I just think it adds a little bit of visual interest when you're playing the game. I just like how the character design ties into the gameplay in that subtle way.

  I think the hair has been the unsung hero of female Pokémon protagonist deigns since Kris. It&apos;s always the first thing I notice and contributes more than anything else with regards to their silhouette. Big, bold and iconic hair draws your eyes to the face and allows for more bottom heavy designs to remain balanced.<br>It&apos;s odd to me then, that the male characters rarely have anything to write home about in the hair department, especially when EVERY MALE RIVAL has had a bold, recognisable hairstyle.

  Having lived a year in Japan has really changed how I see these characters, because they match japanese reality so well. the shorts over Leggings look as you can see with Brendan, Nate or Rosa is soooo common here. The amount of IRL &quot;Rosa&apos;s&quot; I&apos;ve seen, down to the tennis visor, especially while hiking, is honestly crazy. So even if you don&apos;t like the outfit a lot, it mirrors the reality around the developers really well. This was super interesting to notice because i feel like it&apos;s a style not really seen anywhere else, at least for me in europe

  Rosa and Nate I like for their country club aesthetic. It works really well in context of their gen. If Unova is NYC, then Hilda and Hilbert live in Brooklyn while Rosa and Nate live in Larchmont. Despite both being equidistant from manhattan, they represent very different worlds and lifestyle. Having the region’s real-world inspiration bleed into the character design accurately and explicitly is neat.<br><br>Rosa is dressed for tennis. Nate is dressed for golf. Both are teens dressed to spend all day at the country club, in contrast to Hilda’s and Hilbert’s urban style. Country and urban, north and south, upperclass and lowerclass, 1 and 2, black and white. Yet all represent the same city as all represent the same gen.<br><br>It is all so perfect! Atleast until I learned Nate is wearing a wetsuit and not golf sleeves under his clothes.
