  A woman taught me how to make hamburgers in the oven using aluminum foil. I didn&apos;t like it because it left a metallic taste on the burger.

  The pork chop and apple one- I make a dish from a Little House on the Prairie cookbook called Apples and onions. &nbsp; I know it sounds weird but it includes apples, bacon, and onions baked with butter and other things. &nbsp;Wow is it great! &nbsp;I was thinking it could work very nicely in this dish as well. &nbsp;Just add some sliced onion to the other ingredients. &nbsp;Bacon and pork chops are from the same meat family.

  Ham, sweet potato and green beans, brown sugar &amp; butter….my kids loved what I called their Hobo night meal. &nbsp;For some reason because their meal was individually wrapped they considered it special. &nbsp;We even went on to have a “ do your own hobo meal”. It was fun and my son and daughter learned to eat a variety of good for them veggies and meats. &nbsp;We only ate out on very rare occasions. <br>It’s too bad more do not do this. &nbsp;To help our frugal budget, we had a garden and strawberries and raspberries, apples, and a wonderful asparagus &nbsp;bed.. I canned, made all jams, jellies and sauces. &nbsp;Soo yummy.

  I wanted to try all of these until &nbsp;I saw the remarks about aluminum foil. &nbsp;I think I will stick to my crock pot!! Not to mention, &nbsp;heavy duty foil is expensive and I would need to make 4 packets for my family. &nbsp;This would get costly!

  The way I always do this and it&apos;s cheaper, because a good quality heavy duty foil, is no longer cheap, use a bread loaf pan, or 8 by 8, 9 by 13 , put mixture in pan, then crimp foil around edges, or use Corning Ware with lid, place ingredients in, then cover with foil, place the lid on top, the foil with lid forms a seal. I find this cheaper, quicker and easier ! These tips will give you the same results.

  So far 2 failures! #1- pork chops on sweet potatoes. Pork tough, sweet potatoes not cooked in time given. My stove isn’t even a year old.<br>#2- chicken on stuffing. Skin was white, chicken not fully cooked. Needed another half hour cooking time with foil opened for browning.<br>Doubt I’ll even try making any other of these recipes.
