My name is mr. Kazuo. I am sixty five years old and I have spent most of my life in Tokyo. I do not speak for Japan. I was taught a particular way of doing things, mostly by my mother and by a section chief who once made me repeat a greeting eleven times, and I have kept those habits. Nowadays very few people bother with some of them. I still do. On this channel I explain everyday manners and why they exist. Greetings, table manners, gifts, visiting someone's home, sharing public space, speaking politely. I also tell you which rules no longer matter, and which ones people worry about far more than they need to. Good manners are not about rules. They are about making other people comfortable. If this is useful, I will be here next week.
