Joey G. Thorson is a prose poet, lyricist, and fiction author who provides insightful reflection and guidance learned through the crucible of life. As a caregiver for his disabled son and wife, Thorson’s work is shaped by sacrifice, devotion, and quiet truths found in ordinary settings. Thorson's work exemplifies the tensions between extremes—light and shadow, stillness and motion, resilience and surrender—reflecting his central Wisconsin origins juxtaposed to his current residence in Tallahassee, Florida. As a consequence of life more than choice, Thorson finds inspiration in the early mornings before dawn, when the world is hushed, allowing honesty’s whisper to be heard. In Thorson's work, one is sure to find challenges to assumptions held in everyday life, some surprisingly uncomfortable and others comfortably affirming. Thorson's work encourages introspection and empowers self-awareness through aspects of life that others may see as mundane. May you never be the same again.
