발달장애 정은혜 캐리커쳐 작가가 랜선을 타고 완성하는 세계의 니얼굴들. 원래 예쁜 얼굴 안 예쁘게 그려주는 발달장애(다운증후군) 작가 은혜씨. 사람들이 은혜씨에게 “예쁘게 그려주세요”라고 부탁하면 은혜씨는 “원래 예쁜데요 뭘~”이라며 예쁘지 않은 개성 있는 얼굴을 그려줍니다. 행복의 미소를 띄고 은혜씨 앞에 선 사람의 수가 어느 덧 ‘이천명’에 이르렀습니다. ‘이천명의 미소’. 자신이 세상 사람들과 다른 장애인으로 자각한 순간 잃어버렸던 미소와 행복을 예술을 통해 돌려받은 것입니다. 평소 자신을 쳐다보는 타인의 시선에 강박증을 느껴왔던 은혜씨가 이천명의 사람들과 따뜻한 눈길을 포개며 자신만의 시선과 선으로 사회적 관계를 확장시켜 나갑니다. “나 같은 이는 장애로 왜 태어났을까?” 자책하던 은혜씨가 이젠 오히려 그림을 통해 사람들을 위로합니다. “어머 멋져요. 원래 예뻐요~”. 그간 오프라인에서 직접 사람을 만나 2천명 넘는 얼굴을 그려온 은혜씨 작가가 이제 포스트 코로나 비대면 시대를 맞아 온라인으로 세상의 니얼굴들과 만나는 새로운 작업 방식을 시도합니다. “Your Face,” centers on the caricature artist Eunhye with down syndrome who draws people based on their personalities rather than their physical characteristics. 문의 : [email protected]
