Structures Sonores Baschet

François and Bernard Baschet spent six decades creating their diverse "sound structures". The brothers were intrigued by creating a new art form which mixed three elements: sound, aesthetics and the social function of art. Inspired by François’ inflatable guitar invented in the 1950’s, the brothers created over 500 unique pieces of work. These including the Baschet Cristal, the Voice Leaf, the Whistler and the Multitone Percussion, as well as several sculptures, monuments, bell towers, fountains and other structures. With its strange ethereal sounds, the Baschet Cristal has been used by many well-known musicians and composers. In the early 1980s, Bernard Baschet and his collaborators invented the Baschet Educational Instrumentarium – miniature versions of the original sculptures – for the purpose of giving a “palette of sound”. The Baschet Sound Structures Association in France has an exclusive licence to reproduce these instruments. www.baschet.org
