Our small family farm is located in northern VA just less than 35 miles from Washington DC, raising Dexter cattle, poultry, and pigs. From making hay and rotational grazing to calving season and everyday farm work, we share the successes, challenges, and rewards of life in agriculture. Follow along for an honest look at farming and homesteading in Northern Virginia. My family has been farming this land in various ways on and off for over 70 years. I (Nathan) am the 3rd generation on the farm. Our family has run cattle and made hay on this land since the 1950’s. The majority of our farmland was sold off in the mid 1980’s and rebought by my family in the early 2000’s. In 2017 I made the decision to start rebuilding the farm after all this land sat idle and inactive for 30+ years.
