My name is Garnett Cornett. I'm 72 years old and I live at the head of a holler in Breathitt County, Eastern Kentucky, in the house my grandfather raised in 1904. My mother Cora canned in this kitchen for fifty years. My father knew every trick this mountain had to offer before the store showed up and told him he didn't need to anymore. I grew up watching both of them and I didn't write any of it down because there was no reason to. It was just what you did. Now there's a reason. This channel is the things that never got wrote down. Canning, home defense, water, electricity, food storage, homestead skills the county would rather you forgot.
