Friends of the Lake District is the only membership organisation dedicated to protecting Cumbria’s landscapes. Our vision is for thriving Cumbrian landscapes – for nature, for people, for ever. We believe that the Lake District offers some of the most spectacular and precious landscapes in England. We take action to protect and conserve the natural beauty of these landscapes for the benefit of visitors, local communities, wildlife and habitats. We campaign for landscapes that are tranquil, rich in cultural heritage and environmentally healthy. We inspire and mobilise people to work in partnership with us to protect and enhance these landscapes for generations to come. And we lead by example – demonstrating sustainability and conservation on the land we look after.
