Now That's Bass

Now That’s Bass is a podcast about the real world of pro bass playing. Hosted by bassist Pete Roythorne, it features frank conversations with working bass players – touring musicians, session players, and educators – about what it actually takes to sustain a career in music. No fantasy. No gear flexing. Just the reality of the job – which isn’t always pretty. It's also part of a personal journey. Just before Christmas I was made redundant. I turn 60 this year. So I decided it was time to stop talking about doing something with my bass playing and actually do it. So I’m getting back out into the bass world, and seeing where it takes me. I’ll be speaking to players who’ve built real careers, asking honest questions, and learning what it actually takes to make it work. Each episode is a conversation with musicians who’ve toured internationally, built session careers, created teaching platforms, and kept playing for decades. If you’re serious about bass this channel is for you.
