I'm Samuel Hartmann. When I was growing up, my father, Friedrich, sometimes spoke about the time he spent as a German prisoner of war in America. What stayed with me were the ordinary details: the food they ate, the work they were given, the letters they waited for, and the small habits that helped them get through another day. That is where my interest in these stories began. I have always been drawn to the things history tends to pass over. Where people slept. What they ate. How they worked, kept warm, made do, and held on to a piece of home when life changed around them. If you want to know more about the parts of everyday history most people never hear about, subscribe to the channel. I post new stories regularly.
