The parish of Agios Nikolaos Pyli, Trikala. Pyli is located 18 km from Trikala and is built on the borders of the plains of Thessaly at the entrance of the gorge to the Pindos mountains. The village is hidden among plane trees and is crossed by the Portaikos (Portiatis) river that separates the two opposing mountains, Koziaka and Itanos. The parish of Agios Nikolaos Pyli, Trikala belongs administratively and pastorally to the Holy Metropolis of Trikki, Gardiki and Pyli. It was founded as a parish around 1866. The central Church is of Agios Nikolaos, which was inaugurated in 1866 and is located in the small and picturesque square "Mesochori". In 1957, the elegant chapel of Agios Athanasios was erected at the entrance to Pyli, on the Trikala – Arta road. In 1967, the foundation and inauguration of the Church of Agios Bessarion Pyli, Trikala took place. The church celebrates on September 14. The head of the Parish of Agios Nikolaos Pyli is Fr.
